Shorty`s Lunch in Washington

A local landmark with great food, friendly staff and owners. I’ve been going to Shorty’s for over 50 years, it’s a must go to for lunch every time I come to town. If you’ve never been there, you must visit them for lunch.

I do like the food and it's been here my whole life but the cook refuses to wear gloves while cooking. Even worse he cooks right beside the cash register and when you go to pay he will take the money, give you your change, and then go right back to the grill touching buns/meat, etc.

I love the Washington area. My first time visiting Shorty’s was alright. If you enjoy extremely greasy hamburgers and fries, this is definitely the place for you. No condiments or toppings other than ketchup was offered for the burger. So, it’s pretty basic which is nice but that also means not a ton of flavor. The staff was very nice though.

Might be in Washington PA and two hours from where I live in ohio but I would make that trip anytime for there hot dogs and fries with gravy. Highly recommend.

I have been going to shortys since I was a small child. I am now 66 and all my family still goes. The taste never changes still that same great taste

An iconic place to eat in Washington. This place is old and unchanged for decades. The hot dogs are great, the fries with gravy are also iconic. This is the one place to go for a great old atmosphere and super food.

My family has been going here for years. This year was my first time ever having Shortys. After my first bite of an everything dog I knew I would become a loyal patron. I frequently order from the downtown location(once or twice a week). Fresh quality food made with a passion and love in every bite. Hands down my favorite lunch spot! Incredibly friendly staff make the experience even better. Thanks for all your work.

Really good and cheap American food. Their hot dogs and fries with gravy are absolutely phenomenal. Staff is nice and quick. It is a must see place while on your trip to Washington PA, it has been in the city for ever. I highly recommend this place.

Love this place. It ain't about the dog, it's all about the sauce and onions. Gravy fries are the best. Great deal in a historic place.

An authentic experience. A menu which fits on a postage stamp. Fast friendly service. Receive your food almost instantly. Not dirty but everything is heavily worn. You leave with a yearning for days gone by and a stomach full of nostalgia.

Shorty's uptown will always be my favorite.

Shorty's is a Washington PA classic! It looks and smells and tastes the same as it did when I was growing up there in the 1980s.

As always the best,cheapest, and never a disappointing result in Washington. Still my favorite since I can remember.

I cannot imagine a good review for Shorty's. I love roadside, local, and grub hubs, but they are awesome because they make something basic into awesome. Shorty's is not that. The hot dog was tiny, and simply from a warehouse club. Most great hot dog houses are service a high quality tube steak. The hamburger was simply gross. Not even on par with McD or BK or fast food chain. They didn't have cheese for the hot dog or the burger. Sorry we serve burgers not cheeseburgers. The place is unclean. The waitresses have no clue. Shorty's needs to go away. Its not even nostalgic.

Just stopped at Shorty’s to pick up a few hotdogs can’t go without Shorty’s hotdogs so remember everybody that it’s our local business that needs our support so stopping in to get a few hotdogs to go.

Shorty's is a landmark restaurant in the heart of the City of Washington. Make sure you bring a few quarters as parking is on street and runs $.25/15 minutes. Truthfully, if you spend more than 15 minutes there, you're doing something wrong. The waitresses are truly some of the best I've ever seen. Don't get offended if they don't take your order down; they simply turn around and belt it out via an abbreviated and pre-planned order to the cook near the cash register and the guys in the back. Although price has constantly gone up, lunch here won't break your wallet. When I'm by myself, I'm typically spending less than $10.00, tip included. Cash only, but they have an ATM machine inside.

It was my first time going here. My father in law said that he wanted to take my wife and me, somewhere special that he enjoys going to. And I must say, I was very happy with everything. The service was great, the food was excellent, and the prices were inexpensive.

Prices have gone up again. For what I paid for two with fries I could have gotten a much more satisfying meal elsewhere.

Finally took my youngest to have one of my favorite meals in a favorite place from my childhood. The waitress was so nice and the food was delicious as I remembered. Even got her a t-shirt. Shame the guy that rang up our bill was so rude. Kinda took a bit away from the experience.

Old school chili dog. Everything gets you chili, mustard and onion. Large soda with a refill! Been here before, I'll stop again! Reasonable.

I love this one! This is the best Shorty's around,I hope they never close because the one in wolfdale is not nearly as good as the original Shorty's in Washington PA

Very basic place. On the menu your choices are hamburger, hot dog and fries. Maybe a fish sandwich, I don't remember.The condiments are mustard, onions, ketchup, relish, chili and tartar. That's it. No mayo, no cheese. EtcGood service, food is good.Lesley was our waitress, she was great! Thanks for the Shorty's Lunch experience.

I started this yesterday and then my phone froze. So here I go again. Love, love, love Shorty's Lunch!! We here in Washington PA call it Shorty's! It is uptown on Chestnut Street. I have been eating at Shorty's my whole life for about 65 years! My mom used to take me there when I was a little girl. It has wonderful ambience. Just an old fashioned restaurant with booths with high backs. The most popular food of the day with most people is a hotdog with everything which includes chili sauce, diced onions and mustard. Also fries with brown gravy! We should have taken a picture yesterday but we forgot to and it was my husband and my sister and me. If you're ever in Washington PA you must give it a try. I hope this was informative! God bless

I'm 63 the last time I was at Shorty's was when I was 11 there food was Delicious then and still is.

The best hot dogs in the country! Historic. Fast, friendly service. Their Shorty's Sauce is heaven in a hot dog bun. Their menu is small but mighty. French fries w brown gravy. Beer available. Cash only. You will be impressed.

Very fast, good food, great service. The original Shorty's Lunch hot dog shop still thriving in downtown Washington, PA. The food is a great deal, tasty, and comes out incredibly fast. You have to try the fries with gravy and a hot dog. None of the food comes with cheese, but at a place as good as this, that is fine. Stop in. It will be a quick visit, and you won't regret it.

Okay, let’s be honest. You don’t come here for the food. Yeah, the fries are crispy and the chili dogs are decent but you instead come here because of the people. Shortys is a institution and loved by all who eat here, work here or step through the doors here for whatever reason. It’s a cheap and fast lunch and working class people in the Washington area have been coming here for generations. It’s places like this that make their hometowns unique. As long as there’s a heart here, Shorty’s will always deserve no less than 5 stars.
